So, I promised an update on the Suave Professionals dry shampoo. I tried it out last Friday morning when I woke up slightly hungover and too lazy to wash, blowdry and flat iron my hair before work. The dry shampoo was a miracle worker! I mean, my hair didn’t look as good as when it’s freshly shampooed and styled, obviously, but it didn’t look greasy and gross either. So, I’d say the dry shampoo experiment was a success!

So, now instead of wandering around in all my greasy, unwashed hair glory like Jeff Bebe in Almost Famous, I’ll look like a slightly more presentable human on hungover mornings. Woot!

This morning, March 28, The Sartorialist posted two pictures of a fashion blogger named Angelika, who he described as “curvy.”

Photos via The Sartorialist.

He said, “I saw this young lady in Milan several times this past season. She is one of the crop of new bloggers. I loved that she’s a bigger, curvier girl than most of the other bloggers who you see in the the press and tend to represent the genre.

The subtle thing she achieves so successfully in these two looks is to complement the sturdy but beautiful shape of her legs with an equally strong shoe. A daintier shoe would be overpowered but these shoes create a beautiful harmony for the lower half of her body.”

He got a lot of comments from people upset with his use of the word “curvy.” I don’t think he was calling her fat, just commenting on the shape of her body, which is definitely beautiful.

I, for one, am tired of the word “curvy” being a code word for fat. And now that I’m talking about it, I’m tired of the ridiculous standards of beauty in the fashion world!

I love fashion blogs because they are created by real people with unique style sensibilities who share their idea of beauty with the world. But I’m not familiar with any fashion blogger represented in the press who is a larger size. Maybe I should start putting my money where my mouth is, though. I’m a size 12, and I’ve been too shy to put my own daily outfit photos up on this blog.

Anyway, what do you think? Was The Sartorialist out of bounds by describing Angelika as curvy? Was he being insensitive, or overly critical? I think not, but that’s just my opinion.

I’m totally swayed by advertising, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I definitely try new products and services because I saw them while I was watching The Real World or whatever (which, BTW, I’m obsessed with this season). The latest product I tried because of an ad is Suave Professionals shampoo, conditioner and hairspray. I’m kind of broke at the moment (just bought a new bed), so spending three bucks a bottle on haircare supplies definitely appealed to me. Plus, the stylists on the commercial told me the products rock!

I’m happy to report that they do indeed rock. I bought the Almond & Shea Butter Moisurizing shampoo and conditioner, and it makes my hair ridiculously soft. I basically just sit around all day twirling my hair becuase it’s so soft now. I also bought the Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray which works like a dream to keep my unruly hair under control without making it look and feel like a helmet.

I going to pick up the Suave Professionals dry shampoo soon and try it out. I’ll let you know how I like it!

I’m addicted to this DIY Burberry-influenced trench from Erica of P.S. I Made This and WhoWhatWear! I can’t wait to try it myself, but I think I’ll substitute real studs. I’m not sure gold-painted chopstick tips will quite hold up in real life..

I’m ADDICTED to Wah Nails. Next time I’m in London, getting a wild mani at Wah Nails is definitely on my list. But until I can afford to hop accross the pond to get my fingers fancified, the next best thing is drooling over their blog and contemplating attempting it myself.

Check out for more totally rad nail inspiration. All photos are from Wah Nails’ website.

I’m feeling really allergy-y and stuffy today, so I’m drinking tea. My work mug is pretty boring, though, so I started thinking about the adorable teacups at Anthropologie. I figured I’d share my top 3 faves!

I love neon. I mean, not as much as M.I.A. loves neon, but I love it. It’s such a fun, eye-catching addition to an outfit.

J.Crew Archie Grand notebook – $10; F21 Southwestern Trapeze Top – $11.80; F21 Hip Owl Reusable Bag – $1.50; F21 F7562 Sunglasses – $5.80; Kate Spade Shady Side magazine tote – $255; Urban Outfitters Stripes Neon High-Top Sneaker – $29.99

If you shop at today, 100% of every dollar you spend will be donated to help the relief efforts in Japan. So go stock up on fun neon, and help out at the same time!

Here’s what started my neon train of thought. This morning, I pulled on a new pair of neon blue socks, which are the only spot of color in my otherwise neutral outfit. Sorry for the poor photo quality. I took a picture of my feet with my Blackberry… They are actually a lot brighter in person, too.

Also, I’m in LOVE with my black leather driving shoes.. Most people aren’t, but I am.

The CFDA Fashion Award nominees and honorees were announced last night, and while the Twitterverse is a flutter with the news of Lady Gaga winning the Fashion Icon Award, I’m more excited that three of my favorite young labels/designers were nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear.

I don’t know how on earth a winner could POSSIBLY be chosen from these nominees – The Row (Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen), Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra (Joseph Altuzarra). As far as I’m concern, they all deserve to win for being completely amazing. Although, if you held me at gunpoint and forced me to choose, I’d have to say Prabal Gurung. Check out my favorite looks from each of the labels below!

When I woke up today, the birds were chirping, the sun was out, and the air smelled like dewy grass. I think it might be official.. Spring has finally sprung in Milwaukee! Lately, I’ve been so caught up in the fall shows that I kind of forgot it’s barely spring. So I decided to dedicate this post to my favorite Spring 2011 trend – sheer layers!

Charlotte Ronson also incorporated another one of my favorite trends, neon. How bad ass is that to have sheer neon over black?? Add on a stocking cap, and this chick is definitely giving off an “I don’t give a shit what you think” vibe. Chloé is a 180 in the opposite direction with demure neutrals and dainty flats. Zac Posen’s and Proenza Schouler’s girls are definitely ready to party, while Christian Dior and Bensoni channeled an island vibe. Anyway you play it, sheers are definitely a trend to try this season.

Gucci’s Fall 2011 collection Blew. Me. Away. Seriously. While I like a lot of the other collections I’ve seen, Gucci is the only one that stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away like a sucker punch to the gut. It’s GORGEOUS!!! I’m totally digging the jewel tone wide-brim fedoras, the plush fur collars, and the sexy, flowing, sheer dresses. Gucci Fall 2011 FTW!
