The CFDA Fashion Award nominees and honorees were announced last night, and while the Twitterverse is a flutter with the news of Lady Gaga winning the Fashion Icon Award, I’m more excited that three of my favorite young labels/designers were nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear.

I don’t know how on earth a winner could POSSIBLY be chosen from these nominees – The Row (Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen), Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra (Joseph Altuzarra). As far as I’m concern, they all deserve to win for being completely amazing. Although, if you held me at gunpoint and forced me to choose, I’d have to say Prabal Gurung. Check out my favorite looks from each of the labels below!

When I woke up today, the birds were chirping, the sun was out, and the air smelled like dewy grass. I think it might be official.. Spring has finally sprung in Milwaukee! Lately, I’ve been so caught up in the fall shows that I kind of forgot it’s barely spring. So I decided to dedicate this post to my favorite Spring 2011 trend – sheer layers!

Charlotte Ronson also incorporated another one of my favorite trends, neon. How bad ass is that to have sheer neon over black?? Add on a stocking cap, and this chick is definitely giving off an “I don’t give a shit what you think” vibe. Chloé is a 180 in the opposite direction with demure neutrals and dainty flats. Zac Posen’s and Proenza Schouler’s girls are definitely ready to party, while Christian Dior and Bensoni channeled an island vibe. Anyway you play it, sheers are definitely a trend to try this season.

Gucci’s Fall 2011 collection Blew. Me. Away. Seriously. While I like a lot of the other collections I’ve seen, Gucci is the only one that stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away like a sucker punch to the gut. It’s GORGEOUS!!! I’m totally digging the jewel tone wide-brim fedoras, the plush fur collars, and the sexy, flowing, sheer dresses. Gucci Fall 2011 FTW!

Oops… It’s been 2 months since I last blogged.. I did so well about blogging daily for the first 10 days, then I fell off the wagon!

But, a relapse doesn’t mean I’m giving up. I said that I would write 365 blog posts in 365 days, and I’m sticking to it. I’ve just made my resolution a little more work than it had to be.

So here goes, post #11. I’ve been paying attention to the fall 2011 shows, and I have to say that the show I was MOST excited about was Chanel. The reason? They showcased flats!!

I love heels as much as the next gal, but I also love being able to dance the night away and still feel my toes the next morning. What do you think? Will you start rocking flats more often?

Oh, also, check this out! Gray wrist/arm warmers! Call me officially ahead of the trend. I def dedicated a post to these bad boys back in January.

Marchesa SS11

Marchesa SS11

Marchesa dresses make my heart stop beating and my breath catch in my throat. They are so beautiful and intricate and unique. As an intern at Harper’s Bazaar, I unpacked a box one afternoon and pulled out the most GORGEOUS white beaded Marchesa wedding-esque dress. It was for a shoot with Kate Hudson for the January 2010 spread styled by Rachel Zoe. I distinctly remember the magical feeling as I held that dress up to my chest and imagined getting to wear something so special, even if just for a few moments.

Well, I had that same feeling when I looked at the Spring/Summer 2011 collection on style.com. All the dresses were magnificent. But my favorites were the black and white options and the nude options. Dresses fit for a crazy stylish fairytale princess!

Fabulous Floral from Erdem SS11

Full disclosure – I’m head over heels in love with Erdem’s floral dresses for Spring/Summer 2011. This probably won’t be the last time to hear me talk about them. Somehow he manages to make fussy floral prints look so very modern and chic. Can’t you just imagine sashaying down the street in one of these dresses? I call the red and white maxi!

Lace Looks from Temperley London and Erdem SS11

I wear lots of black. I’m always drawn to destroyed black denim and black leather with fringe and/or studs – basically anything that would look at home on the back of a Harley or backstage at a rock concert. To be honest, I’m getting kinda bored with my style.

So these white/nude lace looks from the Spring/Summer 2011 collections for Temperley London (left two) and Erdem (right two) were a much-needed breath of fresh air. How awesome are these looks? I love the Erdem dresses because they are so ladylike and sophisticated. And Temperley London managed to make nude lace look badass! I’m even digging Temperley London’s brown leather and lucite heels.

What do you think about nude lace looks? Would you go for it?
